I am running Ubuntu 12.10 on an HP Pavilion dv9000 with the MATE DE. For some reason my screen keeps going to sleep (going blank) after 10 minutes of being idle, but I have the screen saver turned off and I have the power settings set to NEVER turn off or dim the monitor.
I also checked to make sure that there wasn't a setting in the BIOS that could be doing this and there are no power saving settings in my BIOS.
This problem seemed to begin happening after a recent automatic software update, so it seems like it's a bug in the OS.
Also, someone here posted on a similar thread that entering "sudo xset s off" in the terminal would fix this problem... it does, but only for the current session. If I restart the machine, the problem comes back... is there a PERMANENT way to fix this bug?
