note: when i insert my live usb ubuntu after asus logo it directly show a secure boot screen.(with option try ubuntu, install ubuntu, check) my boot menu is esc. when i press that i get a screen in which it says
hdd name dvd name <pendrive name> uefi:<pendrive name>
on selecting uefi i get secure boot from which i can start live ubuntu usb.
I have installed ubuntu by every means show in various articles but non of them are successful to help me dual boot win7 x64 and ubuntu 12.04 x64.
after all types of attempt i came to result that my ubuntu boots only when a few mb drive with the mount as EFI boot partition is set.(Which means System reserved as same in windows)
Now the main problem is that:
when i install windows in other partition safe aside... ubuntu gets skipped. windows overlaps ubuntu boot loader... after reading many articles i came to know about easybcd which creates a new entry for other os but that didn't help!
when i reboot i get 2 option 1. windows 2. ubuntu if i click windows it works when i select ubuntu i get stuck at grub4dos...
if i install windows first then later ubuntu... i get grub loader with both os option. selecting ubuntu works like a charm, but when windows selected it says INVALID EFI....
according to my simple logic its like.. both needs one part called as EFI BOOT PARTITION so get itself booted. when installed windows it over-writes any file in that efi partition, and when ubuntu is installed it over-writes any file of that efi partition.
i have formatted my pc "hell lot of time" times in short i have tried all possibilities for any to imagine ex: mounting at "/boot" or "/boot/efi" selecting "sda" for boot loader or "sdax" where x is my bootloader drive for ubuntu and lots of more more more combination. and after all hard ships i have written this text.
hope for some solution.
