Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have been reading many posts about this correction. Like many others, I deleted the partitions with the Grub and can only access this command. I have the ISO to re-install, but cannot figure out how to do that. I have both a window 7 disk and the ubuntu ISO. How do you access the grub from a DVD to install while in the grub rescue?

Does the live cd pop up? I cannot access any other thing. –  Aaron Panos Mar 13 '13 at 4:53

Booting from an ISO/DVD is a BIOS function and unrelated to Grub on the hard drive. Just tell your BIOS to boot from the DVD. There's nothing you can do from Grub rescue. –  bcbc Mar 13 '13 at 5:20
