I recently installed an HD6570 graphic card from AMD, and it works beautifully for my Ubuntu 12.04 install, but not if I configure my BIOS to use it at boot. If I do that, the screen resolution is all wrong (too low), the proprietary AMD driver doesn't work, and the Displays tab in System Settings incorrectly lists my display as being a laptop. I am currently forced to keep an additional monitor plugged into my original onboard VGA port in order to select my OS at boot (I dual-boot Ubuntu and Windows 7). When I choose Windows with BIOS using the AMD card, I suffer no such side effects. I've searched on Google for a solution to this problem, but there are so many posts everywhere regarding AMD graphic cards that I'm unable to locate one regarding this situation in particular.
