I try to configure my application web (file.war) with tomcat and I have this error Etat HTTP 404 In the conf file of my app I have this line "data.base_path=/usr/share/tomcat6/bin"
and in tomcat-user.xml I have:

<!--
  <role rolename="tomcat"/>
  <role rolename="role1"/>
  <user username="tomcat" password="tomcat" roles="tomcat"/>
  <user username="both" password="tomcat" roles="tomcat,role1"/>
  <user username="role1" password="tomcat" roles="role1"/>
-->

and in server.xml I have:

<Server port="8005" shutdown="SHUTDOWN">
<Connector port="8080" protocol="HTTP/1.1"
               connectionTimeout="20000"
               URIEncoding="UTF-8"
               redirectPort="8443" />

Maybe the problem is in the .war file and not in Tomcat. Check the web.xml file to see if you are trying to access the correct url. –  Salem Mar 11 '13 at 11:31

<web-app xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee/web-app_2_5.xsd" version="2.5"> –  aminos Mar 11 '13 at 12:59

This is probably more suited to be on StackOverflow than here. If you are using Eclipse/Netbeans the correct url to access your app should be http://localhost:8080/<your project name>/ –  Salem Mar 11 '13 at 13:14
