I am at breaking point with this, spent almost 9 hours yesterday following various guides and procedures of getting 12.10 to install alongside windows 8
I have created a partition in Windows of 40gb allocated to f:/ for example, I got Ubuntu to go through the install process though i didnt get an option to install alongside windows 8 it actually said "no os has been found".
I selected something else and installed in the created partition but did choose primary rather than logical parttiion? is that correct?
I got to the end restarted pc and was then presented with the GRUB screen to choose os to boot, at this time I only had Ubuntu to choose from, I was going to boot and then run boot-repair as that seems to be the final part of getting this to work, however Ubuntu just hung and all I had was a blank screen.
So after this I reset my pc hoping to go back to factory settings for my machine, I done this but the partition I created still remained, if I go into boot options now I get
boot1 windows boot manager boot2 UEFI OS boot3 Ubuntu boot4 Ubuntu
so is Ubuntu still on my machine? If I change boot options to Ubuntu it ignores it and loads windows, which I guess is to be expected.
Has anyone had first hand experience in getting this to work, really frustrated now
