I just installed KDE, it has a LOT of options. What I want is 4 simple desktops that I can switch between. Each desktop should have it's own icons to run particular applications and programs, such as program development, communications, writing, etc.

I don't need, or want 'activities'.

What is your exact question? Do you want something changed? – Seth Mar 8 '13 at 19:59
LXDE. That is all. – etsr Mar 8 '13 at 20:33
I think that is the idea behind activities, define the tasks per workspace and then recall it at a moments notice. Here's an example of how one user takes advantage of them: – Mordoc Mar 9 '13 at 2:16
