My php code causes intermittent crashes with php-5.4.12 as apache module (from Ondrej PPA) on 12.04. After while of searching I decided to get a core dump and investigate further but I'm unable to get a core dump and I'm also confused about some points:
1) I compiled apache with debugging.
httpd -v says
Server version: Apache/2.2.22 (Unix) Server built: Mar 4 2013 15:26:47 Server's Module Magic Number: 20051115:30 Server loaded: APR 1.4.6, APR-Util 1.3.12 Compiled using: APR 1.4.6, APR-Util 1.3.12 Architecture: 64-bit Server MPM: Prefork threaded: no forked: yes (variable process count) Server compiled with.... -D APACHE_MPM_DIR="server/mpm/prefork" -D APR_HAS_SENDFILE -D APR_HAS_MMAP -D APR_HAVE_IPV6 (IPv4-mapped addresses enabled) -D APR_USE_SYSVSEM_SERIALIZE -D APR_USE_PTHREAD_SERIALIZE -D APR_HAS_OTHER_CHILD -D AP_HAVE_RELIABLE_PIPED_LOGS -D DYNAMIC_MODULE_LIMIT=128 -D HTTPD_ROOT="/home/ashkan/Development/php/bin/httpd-2.2.22" -D SUEXEC_BIN="/home/ashkan/Development/php/bin/httpd-2.2.22/bin/suexec" -D DEFAULT_PIDLOG="logs/httpd.pid" -D DEFAULT_SCOREBOARD="logs/apache_runtime_status" -D DEFAULT_LOCKFILE="logs/accept.lock" -D DEFAULT_ERRORLOG="logs/error_log" -D AP_TYPES_CONFIG_FILE="conf/mime.types" -D SERVER_CONFIG_FILE="conf/httpd.conf"
2) I compiled php-5.4.12 with debugging.
Configure Command says:
'./configure' '--prefix=/home/ashkan/Development/php/bin/php-5.4.12' '--with-mysql' '--enable-debug' '--with-apxs2=/home/ashkan/Development/php/bin/httpd-2.2.22/bin/apxs'
3) I have a
CoreDumpDirectory logs stanza in my
httpd.conf file with proper permissions and all the stuff.
ulimit -c says
5) I issue a
sudo ./httpd -k start command and after a while of trying the
child pid *** exit signal Segmentation fault (11), possible coredump in /home/ashkan/Development/php/bin/httpd-2.2.22/logs appears in the
error.log but no dump files are anywhere to be seen in the
I'm also confused about:
- Whats is
BIG_SECURITY_HOLEall about ? How is it any different from
- Should I start the httpd with
- Should I start the httpd from within gdb ?
