I just installed Ubuntu 12.10 to my Gateway E-Series with a VGA 82845G graphics controller. Compiz crashed and terminal message error indicates that Unity is not compatible with my graphics.
This are the results (output) of the commands:
setsid unity -> Result:
X Error of failed request: BadAlloc (insufficinet resources for operation) Major opcode of failed request: 153 (GLX) Minor opcode of failed request: 3 (X_GLXCreateContext) Serial number of failed request: 32 Current serial number in output stream: 33 compiz (core) - Into: Unity is not supported by your hardware. Enabling software rendering instead (slow). Same error again and then it says Segmentatin fault (core dumped)
