Adding a group to sudoers file worked pre- Ubuntu 12. I can't seem to get it to work now. Error is "user is not in sudoers file".

The command sudo addgroup <groupname> does not solve the issue.

Can you post the sudoers file content? –  Eric Carvalho Feb 27 '13 at 18:19

In addition to posting the sudoers file, you need to log out and back in for the group effects to take place. –  bodhi.zazen Feb 27 '13 at 18:25
