How can I get Ubuntu to send the screen image to my projector on the Display Port of my notebook?

Nothing happens when I plug in the DP cable (projector is on) or use the function keys (Fn + F7) to switch (other function keys work). The Displays dialog only shows my regular monitor, no others. When powering down however, I can briefly see the Ubuntu shutdown screen.

  • Ubuntu 12.10 64bit
  • Lenovo T420s
  • Epson projector.

How can I fix this?

Do you have a Nvidia Optimus graphic card or just Intel?. –  Javier Rivera Feb 27 '13 at 8:30
It's an Nvida Optimus card, as far as I know - at least the Nvidia driver works under Windows. Graphics setup doesn't display correctly under Ubuntu, but I think that's a know bug. And yes, I'm a doctor. Although I never know what to write under "Setup" when patients come by... –  arumbay Feb 27 '13 at 11:11
