I'm a non-techie, newbie Ubuntu user with a fresh install of 12.10 and in need of some help. After suspend, my Sony Vaio Z Intel Core i5 64bit computer makes a crackly failure to resume noise after suspend, pauses briefly, displays the error message below, pauses a minute, then it usually resumes. Sometimes the computer displays the error message as well briefly just as it starts to suspend.
The message includes the following error messages 2-3 times.
dpm_run_callback() pnp_bus_resume+0x0/0x80 returns-19 PM: Device 00:08 failed to resume error (errno = -19) ata1: COMRESET failed (errno = -16) ata1: COMRESET failed (errno = -16) ata1: COMRESET failed (errno = -16) ata1: COMRESET failed (errno = -16) ata1: reset failed giving up
I saw a posting suggesting that I look at the pm-powersave.log file, but I'm not sophisticated enough to know how to debug. I do have a colleague and neighbor who might though if someone can suggest a solution. The only other very similar posting had an answer that simply asked for hardware information, so here are the specs >Intel Core i5 CPU M 540 @ 2.53GHz × 4
