My problem is that I have a CK804 IDE controller (with the nForce4 SLI Intel chipset), and drive 0 will not work. I am trying to install two IDE DVD-multi drives. Drive 1 will read and write and is fully functional, but drive 0 won't recognize any disk that I put in. I have tried different cables, different drives, and alternate between Cable Select and Master/slave jumper configurations, but nothing has worked.
According to http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_nforce_1.23.html, the amd74xx module takes care of this IDE controller. I do not see this module loaded, though. Perhaps this has something to do with it.
Any ideas on what to do next? I could use some more info, but haven't found any more online...
