So I decided to try and install ubuntu on my asus eee pc model 1015cx. After some bad experience trying to install ubuntu 12.10 and reading that it's not supported, I decided to downgrade to ubuntu 12.04.
When I used the usb installer, everything wen't fine. I tried the 'test ubuntu', and the install didn't raise any errors. Then, when I restarted after the installation, the graphics were gone. It's not even a black screen - everything is just out of sync. There's like a line at the top that shows weird display of some of the screen (I can move the mouse but I have know idea where it's pointing, everything goes crazy with every movement).
So I tried re-loading the test ubuntu from the usb - I thought maybe I need to install some drivers, but - and this is the really weird part - now even the test ubuntu from the usb doesn't work.
I tried loading ubuntu in recovery mode, and after running in failsafe graphic mode I get this message:
"Your screen, graphics card, and input device settings could not be deteced correctly, you will have to configure these yourself"
It's even more frustrating as there seems to be no mouse to even click 'ok' on that message and try moving on. I'm really at loss what to do, and I'm not that hi-tech to start messing around with the code. And I can't even re-install I can't nothing!
any help would be much obliged
