I am using Gparted (from Ubuntu Live CD) to enlarge my Win Vista and shrink my Ubuntu 9.04 partitions.
Reports of "check" process on each partition are here:

Vista partition: http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg88/Skyhawk624/ScreenshotWinVistapartn.png

Ubuntu partition: http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg88/Skyhawk624/ScreenshotUbuntupartn.png

Previous to these 2 steps I had made some other partition changes, so probably screwed something up. I have CDs (and backup personal files) to reinstall the Win Vista, and will use the Ubuntu Live CD to install a new Ubuntu 12.10.

What is the easiest way for me to fix this so I can complete my final 2 steps:

  1. Move and shrink the Ubuntu partition
  2. Grow the Vista partition

We can't see the files you tried to link to, because they're on your machine, not the internet. – Zero Piraeus Feb 19 at 21:20

SOLVED - I decided to reformat all partitions and reinstall the WinVista and the new ubuntu 12.10. I probably created this problem while trying to work w/ Gparted. Lessons learned: 1) while I have been using Ubuntu for ~ 6 years, each time I have a problem upgrading or installing new, I AM A NOOB all over again; 2) ergo, ALWAYS have a full system install/recovery disc; 3) ALWAYS have current backups of personal files. Once I decided that I would do a reformat & reinstalls, I was able to experiment w/ Gparted and ultimately learned a lot about how it works and got pretty confident w/ it. End results were perfect.
BTW, after doing the install, I had a problem w/ "grub restore>". The following procedure worked perfectly - http://howtoubuntu.org/how-to-repair-restore-reinstall-grub-2-with-a-ubuntu-live-cd/#.USWJWxyYNok

Sorry for the delay, Zero, but I am struggling to find the best way to post images/whatever of the reports from Gparted. What do you suggest. I am doing this from the Live CD. A4Skyhawk

I recommend registering an account, then using the contact us link at the bottom of any page to ask for your accounts to be merged. This won't immediately make it so you can post images but it will make it so you can post comments on your question, more easily edit your question, and so everyone knows it's you. You've posted this as an answer but since it's not an answer, it will probably be removed soon. As for how to post images, just put them somewhere on the web (e.g., postimage.org or imgur.com) and add a link to your question, then we can add the image for you. – Eliah Kagan Feb 20 at 0:02
I have registered for an account and corrected the links in my OP. Thanks. – A4Skyhawk Feb 20 at 2:02
SOLVED - I decided to reformat the entire drive and reinstall both the WinVista and the new Ubuntu 12.10. I probably created this problem while trying to work w/ Gparted. – A4Skyhawk Feb 21 at 2:30
