Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have:

  • Toshiba Satellite M500
  • DDR2 4 GB RAM(Samsung)
  • ATI Mobility Raedon HD 4500
  • Seagate 500GB HDD
  • Windows 8 and Ubuntu 12.10 (Ubuntu installed inside Windows using Wubi)
  • BIOS v2.5 (American Megatrends)

My problem is laptop's heatsink (fan stops) stops working when I use Ubuntu (infact any Linux existing around). Fan of heatsink runs fine while using Windows but once I boot to Ubuntu it stops and ultimately my laptop heats up in next 30 mins and stops functioning ultimately and Shutdown due to overheat.

Guys help me out I'm in serious problem if not solved I have to drop Ubuntu (infact using Linux) which I don't want to. I hope I will get help. Thank You all.
