I'm unable to lauch applications that require root priviledges from the gnome shell menu. When the input password dialog is shown, after 2 our 3 seconds the "Sorry, that didn't work" message is shown, whether I type the correct password, or type nothing at all.
I'm using Ubuntu 12.10 (Gnome shell 3.6), in a Sony Vaio laptop.
EDIT: this only happens when lauching from the gnome-shell "Activities" view, e.g. when lauching Synaptic from Docky I have plenty of time to input my password.
EDIT 2: the cause seems to be pressing "Enter" to choose the application from the menu; when using the mouse to choose the application, everything works fine. So it seems that the "Enter" key press is intepreted ahead of time by the "Input Password" ahead of time...
Anyone else with the same problem has been able to find a workaround?
