I'm using 12.04 LTS (with kernel 3.6.10 which I installed to get rid of the total freeze bug #993187). I noticed my hard drive is busy all the time. I installed iotop to monitor the disk activity, and it appears that Nautilus is constantly writing to the disk at about 135 k/s. I fear this could cause a premature ageing of the HDD. Is this is normal behaviour? If it isn't, how do I fix it? Is it a known bug?

Thank you in advance for any helpful answer...

PS. I'm using nautilus 3.4.2. The phenomenon appears under gnome 3 as well as Unity.
