Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

just downloaded 12.10 and used the "Startup disk creator" application on my desktop to install ubuntu on a new notebook.

i disable the safeboot shenanigans, boot from the USB, get the first screen where i select the language.

from there, touchpad does not work... ok, I press TAB to highlight the "try ubuntu" button and press Enter.

it takes some seconds to load the Desktop and... rotates the screen 90 degrees to the right!

from there i could press the flag-key, type display, press TAB to disable clockwise rotation, and press tab again to try to guess when it's on the OK button (as it's out of the screen since i only had 768px of heigh --now width) and i'm back to a normal desktop.

dmesg does not say anything useful. I don't even know what i'd say besides this anecdote if i'm to file a bug.

I will try to install and see if that happens with the full image... now off to have some fun with shrinking win8.
