I am not able to download any software. I have Ubuntu version 11.04 and I keep getting the error message "There seems to be a programming error in aptdaemon, the software that allows you to install/remove software and to perform other package management related tasks." What should I try?

Also, I am trying to install Microsoft Office 2010 and I am getting an error message stating that I need to download the latest version of Windows Installer but when I try to download Windows installer 4.5, I get an error message stating that the path was not found.
