I'm just starting to get used to Ubuntu and I'm having problems with my Unity interface. Previously I wasnt able to run Unity 3D even after logging in selecting the 3D icon in the log-in screen. Also the unity support test too failed when I tried. Apparently my graphic card drivers were not detected even the official drivers tested by Ubuntu were installed and "in use" according to the Additional Drivers menu in System Settings. I found a workaround as per
and installed open source drivers after completely removing the official drivers. (I had also tried force installing the official drivers earlier from AMD's site which caused Ubuntu to simply get stuck after the initial splash screen). This solved my issue and now I'm able to run unity-3d.
My current problem is as follows: I created a new user account only to find that the earlier problem where only Unity-2d loads persists. I'm at a loss to understand why this is so, since I have already installed the drivers in the system and it is working fine with the other user.
Do I have to install the open source drivers every time I create a new user account? If so, why?
(My graphics card is AMD Radeon HD7730M)
