I intend to buy one Dell laptop, installed with Ubuntu. The options are as follows :

1) Dell Inspiron N5050 Laptop (2nd Gen Ci3/ 4GB/ 500GB/ Ubuntu)

2) Dell Inspiron 15 Laptop (2nd Gen Ci3/ 4GB/ 500GB/ Ubuntu)

3) Dell Vostro 2520 Laptop (2nd Gen Ci3/ 2GB/ 500GB/ Linux)

Please advice, which one should I go for. For these three, the price is not of any consideration.

We mainly use our desktop for net surfing and preparing some sort of documents, using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PhotoScape on Windows XP. And we do have a HiFi modem, operative for our iPod touch and Android smart phone. Which of these models will fit best for our usage ?

Hello Manasbrata, unfortunately this is not the place to get shopping recommendations. Also, since all machines have Ubuntu/Linux preinstalled, you can assume they will work well with it, meaning this question is likely not going to be about Ubuntu. Your question will probably be closed soon. Try Googling for user experiences or reforming your questions into something that is not asking for a shopping recommendation and might be interesting for others to learn as well. – Tomas Feb 6 at 8:34

  1. As this this site is all about Ubuntu, the first obvious recommendation should be: try and choose between the first 2 options ;-)
  2. More seriously, in this day and age you would surely be happier with a 4GB RAM.
  3. You can use LibreOffice Writer, Calc and Impress, and also GIMP Image Editor comfortably in either of these computers. If you like you can also use PhotoScape under WINE as well for some features hard to find/use in GIMP. But I don't think you need to use MS Office under WINE as much as PhotoScape although it is also possible technically.
