I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 side by side with Windows 8 on my laptop. Initially to get the computer to boot from a disk I had to go add the option in the EFI settings. Now that I've successfully installed Ubuntu I have three settings for boot options, two of which are the identical listings of GRUB with the other being the Windows 8 bootmgr.

The menu selection I previously used was Add Boot Option, upon selecting this I was presented with the Disc drive. Now, however that option has disappeared. There is an option to manually enter a file path but when I put in the drive letter from my drive it says I must provide a name and a file path. How can I go about finding the file path for the live cd I'm trying to boot from?

The file path it wants is almost certainly the path to an EFI executable on the EFI System Partition (ESP), so you won't be able to specify a removable disk in this way. There's probably a way to do what you want, but how to do it will be highly system-specific. You'll need to go digging through your firmware options in search of it, or if you post the exact make and model of your computer, you might luck out and get an answer. Alternatively, you could call tech support or post a question on your manufacturer's forum (if they've got one). – Rod Smith Feb 7 at 1:52
