I am using gecko-mediaplayer to listen to mp3s in FireFox. However, the predicted time is completely wrong with certain files. This also makes it very hard to jump to a particular part of the song because the place where you click is not actually the time you wanted, and it jumps to where the song would be in proportion to where you clicked (not what time it said you were clicking at). Otherwise it works great. This behavior I only really notice on any mp3 on this page.
Another problem that I have which may or may not be related is that it takes refreshing to page to actually be able to play. This behavior I experience with almost any mp3.
I've been having trouble finding a perfected browser media player in Ubuntu. Totem, the default, just doesn't play for me. With VLC there is sound distortion. This is the only media player that actually plays correctly, and I love it except for this problem.
I have the package w64codecs installed from Medibuntu. I also manually installed the package mplayer as with the package mplayer2 the time is even more out of whack.
So if somebody has a fix or could recommend an alternative, I would be very grateful!
