I ran sudo apt-get dist upgrade. Apparently everything went well except that when it was done, in the terminal said there was an error. I didn't mind about it and shut system down. When I turn computer on again, everything was "ok" and then the list of sessions was in front of me... I selected my session, gave my password, pressed enter and it took me back to the sessions list. With every session happens the same: I can't log in.

I don't know what to do. I tried to use a previous version (the one shown in the start) and happens the same. I really need to get this fix.

You said there was an error. What did it say? – Eliah Kagan Feb 3 at 23:47

It looks like you're able to get to your desktop manager's greeter/login screen but not into your desktop environment. Important question: are you using the regular Ubuntu, or have you changed to something like Xubuntu, Lubuntu, or changed your desktop manager or something? Important question 2: Which version of Ubuntu are you on? Important question 3: Can you remember anything at all about the error? – neon_overload Feb 3 at 23:49
I really don't remember what was the error. I'm not sure what you mean about the regular Ubuntu. :( I'm totally new with the OS change (always used windows before, and changed it because of my work). I know the OS it's Linux Mint. When the login screen appeared I noticed there was a change: another color, another font... Also, i noticed the mouse didn't work. I connected another mouse via usb and worked but nothing was clickable. – Gonzo Feb 4 at 0:47
Linux Mint is a different ditribution (or Distro) from Ubuntu. Although Linux Mint is actualy a fork off Ubuntu, they differ in such a way that this forum will not be able to help you as well as the Mint forum would. Try posting your question on forums.linuxmint.com – matv1 Feb 4 at 2:11
