Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

This question might have beed asked here before but anyway. As far as i understand Ubuntu OS apps will be able to run desktop programs, but is wont run android apps which existing atm. Is that correct?

If it is i think its a big mistake. Android market have already tons of useful apps aimed for mobile phones. If Ubuntu OS wont support them, well not many users will switch to ubuntu OS.

How about some kind of emulator for android apps? When android was new in market there was very few navigation apps, and it took quite long time to finnaly get good navigation on android. That was one of the main reason i personally keep win mobile till now. Im afraid the same thing might happend to Ubuntu OS without android apps support.

With Android apps support Ubuntu OS will be the best mobile OS on market just after relese, however without it... it will take much time to provide users with apps they are using in their android phone atm.

So here's my question again. Is it possible for you to make existing android apps runnable on Ubuntu Os?

This question is already asked in asked, and rest of the part is discussion type so it is offtopic here. Any way there is no other os which support emulation by default, and supporting android apps will discourage developers from writing native apps for ubuntu phone – Tachyons Feb 3 at 13:33
Hi jonny. This is not a 'feature request' site, it is a support site. There are many other places where you could share your ideas and come up with some plans. developer.ubuntu.com is a good starting point. – Andrea Corbellini Feb 4 at 14:34

As far as I know it is not planned to add support for Android applications to the Ubuntu phone OS. However there will be support for HTML 5 apps so its very very easy to integrate web applications into the Ubuntu phone OS. So there will be immediately a bunch of apps which could be used. Furthermore Ubuntu introduced the Unity Web Apps in Ubuntu 12.04 & 12.10 that enables you to integrate web services directly into your desktop. I hope this will be available for the mobile OS too.
