Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I use Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and I have downloaded GParted to resize my partition space. Now, quite simply, I have stopped using WinXP, and I want to shrink that space and increase the space of Ubuntu. I also want to know what Unmounting does. If the following screenshot is of any use to you. enter image description here

This is the screen I have. I have searched Google, and I have nearly lost hope trying to find the answer. Please help.

Did you install Ubuntu through Wubi? –  To Do Feb 2 '13 at 17:27

@ToDo Yes, I installed it through Wubi through WinXP –  Kitizl Feb 2 '13 at 17:28

My advice would be to.. freshly install Ubuntu. But I guess you want to resize it inside the "inside" installation. –  David M. Sousa Feb 2 '13 at 17:33

If you want to get rid of Windows, since you installed through Wubi, you would have to migrate your installtion. But I agree that it is simpler to do a fresh install. –  To Do Feb 2 '13 at 17:38

@David M.Sousa Why would I? I want to use XP as well as Ubuntu, if that is too much to ask. And yes, I want to expand Ubuntu's memory capacity –  Kitizl Apr 9 '13 at 7:39
