i have installed ubuntu 12.10 on my laptop using windows installer.... once i select ubuntu in boot option.... i come up with purple screen for few seconds and then error comes as

[drm] nouveau .... GPU lockup - switching to software fbcon
[drm] nouveau...... failed to idle channel 2

how can i solve this problem and use ubuntu...... i have nvidia graphic card on my laptop
