I have been using unity for a long time and when I tried kde in the same resolution settings the space was much bigger I don't know if this is a problem in unity in general but if it's not can you please help to fix it?

I know this question sounds a bit awkward but if you try kde and unity, you will see the difference as can be also seen from these images:

I don't understand your question. The screen resolution appears to be the same. The desktop looks different and offers a different working space by its design (or at least default settings). Are you asking on how to get KDE provide you more free space for windows/applications? –  gertvdijk Feb 1 '13 at 17:43

Actually the Unity version seems much more spacious. Only thing I see is that desktop icon sizes in KDE seem bigger. –  Visa is Racism Feb 1 '13 at 17:47

I have this too. It's so bad that I've given up using KDE. Icons are huge, fonts are gigantic, etc. –  Seth Feb 1 '13 at 18:33

@gertvdijk No, that isn't the netbook version. It's the "widget" version of the desktop. –  Seth Feb 1 '13 at 18:39

It doesn't look pixelated to me. –  Ken Feb 1 '13 at 18:59
