To close voters: It's quite clear what this is asking (and was before the edit, too). If you vote to close this as not a real question, could you comment to explain why? This question make sense to me; I can even answer it. – Eliah Kagan Jan 30 '13 at 3:48
Just use unetbootin with a flash drive. Unetbootin is for mac or windows or linux – Skyler 440 Feb 4 '13 at 2:26

You said you burn the Ubuntu install disc, it's verified, and then you insert it. That suggests you're burning the DVD on some other machine, not on the MacBook Pro itself.

That's fine, usually. But if the MacBook Pro cannot read the type of DVD you have burned, that will produce this error. I have seen this error with other Macs before.

The easiest way to check is to try burning the DVD with the MacBook Pro. If it works, then the DVD drive in the MacBook Pro supports the DVD in it.

There are 6 types of writeable DVD media: DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+R DL, DVD-R DL, DVD+RW, and DVD-RW. Not all drives have read support for all media types.
