Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Maybe it's a new user question, but coming from Windows 8 I was asked to partition my hard drive to install Ubuntu.

How can I use that extra space as I once did in Windows? As one big Hard Drive, instead of two different storage locations? I would hope I don't have to delete any files, as I still want to use Windows as well.

Who told you to?, Where did you see that?, How did you partitoned your drive?. – Uri Herrera Jan 28 at 23:44
When I installed Ubuntu it told me to partition my drive, I didn't fight it. I didn't know what I was doing. I set aside 339 GB. So that's what my old files are on. – Kevho00 Jan 28 at 23:47
