In Ubuntu 12.04 I cannot open any websites while e.g. skype works fine or teamviewer and the wired connection is fine since with Windows everything works perfectly :(. I tried to reset Firefox or to use Chrome and nothing changed. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Do you get any error messages in your web browser? Can you open a terminal and ping a website? – Travis G. Jan 27 '13 at 0:38
if i type ping it returns PING ( 56(84) bytes of data. – user72469 Jan 27 '13 at 0:56
THe browser says server not found as if I have no internet while skype works fine!!! – user72469 Jan 27 '13 at 0:57
Looks like there is a DNS resolution problem. Can you add the output of nm-tool to the question, and also provide some basic info about the type of connection and the hardware. Is it: wired/wireless, modem/router, dinamic/static IP? – mikewhatever Jan 27 '13 at 1:10
the output of nm-tool is way too big.It is static IP in my office and the connection is wired. Actually with the wifi i can browse some websites! I can access youtube but not fb... Its really weird – user72469 Jan 27 '13 at 1:25

I feel your pain. I've also had to come to terms with Skype on Ubuntu often not being supported (maybe because the market isn't big enough), and websites not getting opened up, but RHUB's Web conferencing / Webinar solution supports Ubuntu. Linux, Unix, etc.
