I have Ubuntu 12.10 running on HP DC7800 running intel® Core™2 Duo CPU E8300 @ 2.83GHz × 2

I have vmware player installed and have been using it successfully no problems

Today I created a login for my son and set up his account. I logged in to that account and opened vmware player but I cannot get it to play any vms. It just disappears. Its shows as open in system monitor when I open it but as soon as I click on play VM it closes.

Is there a setting I am missing?

Thank you

Where are the VMs stored? Are they stored in a directory that you both have permission to access? –  Another Googler Jan 26 '13 at 4:56
Ahh thank you another googler - yes the problem was permissioning. I had the vm in a folder owned by me. I have now created a group and added myself and my son to that group and then changed ownership on all the files within the vm folder to incude my new group. Problem now solved. THank you –  willwnz Jan 28 '13 at 7:33
