I don't have any internet connection on Ubuntu without it, as a wired internet connection would be pretty hard to pull off. I have no idea what the model name is, as nothing I've looked at says anything about it. Looks a bit old, though. I don't have any drivers on me for the adapter. I'm using 12.04 (or is it 12.10? Either way, there's probably not a life-changing difference)

I have a Linksys wireless adapter, too, and it won't work without drivers. I know that some models probably do. However, there are solutions for some of those that don't: once we know what model you have, we might be able to point you in the right direction. –  Kelley Jan 26 '13 at 1:31
