I want to associate my own application launcher (.desktop file) with an application but not replace the original, just make it an option.
So, there is the default .desktop file. When launched, it automatically appears as running. If I create my own .desktop file, I can use it the same way with the application, but it won't appear as running and instead the default .desktop file is displayed. My own .desktop file executes a shell script (which is necessary) and then my desired application is launched.
The question is whether there is a a way to workaround this, e.g. by changing the name of the process. I've tried "exec -a" but it unfortunately had no effect.
Thank you very much for your help.
