Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have a Probook 4530s with a newly installed RT3592BC8 running Ubuntu 12.10 x64.

I upgraded from Atheros 9285 because of it's lack of dual-band and BT 4.0.

The main problem I have with my new Ralink card is the poor performance when trying to connect my university's WPA2 Enterprise network. It barely connects and then drops several times on end while people next to me are doing just fine. In Windows, it seems to have decent performance on the same network but I need it work in Ubuntu for programming purposes.

I would try and download/build Ralink's source for this chipset except that the site got merged with MediaTek and MediaTek's site is down with no mirrors in sight.

If no one has any suggestions, perhaps a new distro is of order. Let me know if you know any distros with proper support for this card although I know everything is usually in the kernel (driver is rt2800pci) so that wouldn't change.

Thanks and I'll be happy to run any network commands you require to properly debug my problem.
