I decided to give ubuntu 12.10 a chance. So far, everything is great.
But my only problem is that I can't connect to my wifi. And when I actually do connect to it at times, I end up getting disconnected shortly afterwards.
If it helps, I'm using the Edimax 7811 UN wireless adapter.

Edit your question adding the result of lspci | grep Network. This will help people giving hardware specific advice. – To Do Jan 23 at 13:23
