Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I am compiling a new kernel on my Ubuntu 12.04.1 using make-kpkg.

In order to do so, I'm doing the same process as suggested in izx's answer. However, I want to direct the generated .deb files to my own folder instead of ../ (which is the default). That way I could put the source files in /usr/src/linux-3.7.4 and not have to run the command as root just to save the files to /usr/src.

What is the best way to achieve that?

Thanks in advance!
