I am trying to connect a Logitech Pro 4000 USB webcam, with built-in microphone, to an Ubuntu 12.10 computer with 6 USB input connectors for use with Skype video calls.
The problem is, that half of the USB input connectors will allow video from the webcam - and no input from the webcam microphone. The other half of the USB connectors will allow input from the webcam microphone - and no video from the webcam.
In the first scenario with webcam video, the webcam microphone input disappears from control panels, such as pavucontrol, as it did not exist. In the second scenario with webcam microphone input, the webcam video is not activated, thus video capture from programs, such as Skype and Cheese, are black.
The problem came after the upgrade from 12.04 to 12.10. According to System Monitor, the kernel version is 3.5.0-22 generic.
