I'm trying to install 12.04.1 server edition onto a new Intel-based machine from a USB key, and all goes well until I get asked where to install the OS, as the only option I get is:

SCSI7 (0,0,0) (sda) USB Flash Disk

I.e. the RAID array that was set by the vendor (identified as array 00 in the boot up screen, and made up of two 3GB disks) is not given as an option. Can anyone suggest how I can make that array available?

TIA

What kind of raid controller is it? It sounds like it isn't supported. Take a look at sudo lspci -v and add the section about the card to your question. –  psusi Jan 21 '13 at 13:45
