Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

My mouse works fine till I open a window like Firefox or a folder my mouse left and right click stop working, I can't maximize or minimize and I can't move my windows at all and in Firefox I can't open new tabs etc. I have found a temporary solution if I click the little cogwheel/power-button in the top right corner and than click it away, now I can use my mouse to maximize my window but as soon I open a new window the problem comes back again

I'm a big noob I just installed Ubuntu and this is my first time using it and I have no skills in scripting or programming, I need a lot of help.

I have the same identical issue, mouse works 100% on the launcher, but it does not work on the central panel ( i.e. on Firefox ) –  user137630 Mar 4 '13 at 21:30
You're right, sorry... New to this. Maybe it can be useful to notice that this started to happen me wiht Kernet, and seems disappeared going back to 0.17. But I've just started testing it –  user137630 Mar 4 '13 at 21:56
that bit of information is almost good enough to go in your answer post above. Note how you can edit your answers and so improve them over time ;-) –  DrSAR Mar 4 '13 at 21:58
