I have a laptop with no operating system - I have downloaded 12.10 iso and burnt it to a dvd I can read the disk on another machine and setup works on it but when I try to boot it on the machine with no OS I can hear it try to boot but then go hangs with a blank screen.

I have seen a few similar questions but not seen an answer? I have used previous versions with no problems - can anyone suggest a solution? Steve

Please add some more details about your laptop. You could use the Ubuntu 12.04 LTS live cd to get the info. If you don't know how to get it with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, simply open a terminal and type lspci and copy the result here – Ubuntu Jan 20 at 12:26
