I have installed Ubuntu 12.10 in my secondary hard drive with 500GB through Bootable CD. Post the successful installation there are 2 issues i face.

  1. Since the Windows XP runs in my primary Hard drive with 80GB split into 3 logical partitions, the default booting goes to Windows xp. I have to press F8 to select boot from secondary master drive (my Linux Hard drive) and then choose Ubuntu to boot which works fine.

  2. When logged into either Unity or KDE through Ubuntu 12.10, i noticed several times that the system hangs for a minute or two after which it is normal. I have installed all the 3rd party drivers the first time i logged into my Ubuntu. Why does this hang ? I installed Chromium too... is it an issue connected to that ?

Can someone who tried this give a solution ?

Btw - Both my hard drives have a 7200 rpm if that helps anyways.
