Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I tried to upgrade from the last LTS version to 12.04. During the upgrade several error messages appeared and told me that there is not enough free space.

After everything seemed installed I got a message that the installation is complete but some errors occurred.

I restarted the computer, a huge list of error messages runs and now I can't see the login screen. But I have access to the tty.

What can I do to fix this?

When you try to boot and get lots of errors, what happens if you press Ctrl+Alt+F2? Do you get a non-graphical login screen where you can log in? –  Eliah Kagan Jan 16 '13 at 19:18
I now have this line: root@(computer name) and I don't know how to proceed from there. –  alufolie Jan 16 '13 at 20:02
