njstar and the rikaichan and perapera mozilla plugins as well as dimsum java program allow you to hover your mouse over a word and get a translation from an east asian language into english. Is there any equivalent that is so efficient and works offline, for russian?
There are firefox plugins that send a translation request to google translate when you hover, but they all tend to be very general, so the process is slow. And you have to be online to use it as it relies on a web service (google).
Or if anyone remembers ms-dos russian programs that can do this, I could use a name to try and find them, online or asking around. They could run on dosbox.
Right now it's either word for word searches with the dictionaries for linux. Or, in goldendict, you can put a whole text in but it's all hyperlinks and constantly going back to the text, browser-like.
I just want to mouse-hover-translate russian, offline.
