Today all of the sudden I cannot get my HDMI port working. I've checked output of xrandr after some googling and it looks like this:

LVDS1 connected 1366x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 344mm x 194mm
   1366x768 60.1*+
   1360x768 59.8 60.0
   1024x768 60.0
   800x600 60.3 56.2
   640x480 59.9
VGA1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)

There is no HDMI port listed so does this mean it is broken (I mean hardware)? Do you have any suggestions how can I get it to work again? I'm using Ubuntu 12.04.

I can't see any problematic update up to the moment yo do a apt-get install nvidia-current. Why did you do that? You have an Nvidia card? What model? Can you also add the output of this command? lshw -c display – Jorge Suárez de Lis Jan 15 at 20:52
yes, I have nvidia card and did install drivers after see some suggestions online - but that result in stuck in low resolution. The most interesting thing for me is that there is no hdmi port visible in xrandr, I don't really know what that means - the vga port works just fine but it is listed by xrandr... – Adrian Serafin Jan 15 at 20:55
So... is this a laptop, right? Even when you have an Nvidia card, it's probably built upon Optimus. First, ensure that your laptop has Optimus. This will probably be advertised on the box or in stickers. If that's the case, read the Bumblebee wiki page. Even if you have Optimus, you may be able to disable it on the BIOS. Check that also. – Jorge Suárez de Lis Jan 15 at 21:08
