![enter image description here][1]I've installed Ubuntu on my home system, trying to take the step to using it full time instead of Windows!

My problem is that I can't seem to get my AMD video card (HD5870) to work. Every time I install the version from AMD or the flgrx it doesn't work. It restarts fine, logs in fine, and then won't let me change the resolution. I receive a this virtual resolution out of range error message.

Now I wonder what I have done wrong. Also it may help to know that I have a 22" and a 19" monitors hooked to this rig. I have uninstalled down to the base drivers and they work fine, supporting both monitors at their native resolutions. I am setting the res to 1680X1050 and it tells me I am trying to set it to 2960X1050.... this is out of bounds and the driver can not handle it from what I can tell. Any help would be nice otherwise I will just downgrade to 12.04.

Thanks!
