my problem is that when I set up a wifi hotspot on my android phone to which I connect with my netbook (running Ubuntu 12.04) I get ridiculously slow speed. USB tethering, on the contrary, is perfectly fine and I get normal speed on download. I think the problem is on the Ubuntu-side because my girlfriend connected with her Macbook to my wifi hotspot and the connection is fast as expected.
