Hi from a noob to Ubuntu,
I'm trying to add a PCI/Parallel port expansion card to a Dell Dimension 5000 PC running Ubuntu 12.04. Learning how to do things in Ubuntu is a bit of an uphill struggle. Up until now I've been a Windows man.
Anyway I have 2 cards both of which are currently physically installed. I've following find some assistance at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1233589 and by issuing the command $ sudo lspci -v, found in that thread, sudo lspci -v displays:-
04:00.0 Communication controller: NetMos Technology PCI 9815 Multi-I/O Controller (rev 01)
Subsystem: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic 2P0S (2 port parallel adaptor)
Flags: medium devsel, IRQ 16
I/O ports at dcb8 [size=8]
I/O ports at dcc0 [size=8]
I/O ports at dcc8 [size=8]
I/O ports at dcd0 [size=8]
I/O ports at dcd8 [size=8]
I/O ports at dcf0 [size=16]
Kernel driver in use: parport_pc
Kernel modules: parport_pc
04:02.0 Parallel controller: AFAVLAB Technology Inc Device 2121 (prog-if 02 [ECP])
Subsystem: AFAVLAB Technology Inc Device 2121
Flags: medium devsel, IRQ 18
I/O ports at dce0 [size=8]
I/O ports at dcb0 [size=4]
I/O ports at dce8 [size=8]
I/O ports at dcb4 [size=4]
Capabilities: [a0] Power Management version 1
Kernel driver in use: parport_pc
Kernel modules: parport_pc
But that is as far as I've got.
One card is labelled MRi PCIPP2 and the other MRi PCIPP2/N. MRi is Microcomputer Research (UK) Ltd, however, there website - www.mri.co.uk/about-us/ -provides no support and other web searches mainly show information for Windows installations
Any assistance would be much appreciated.
Many thanks.
