I've got a HDMI output problem with a Dell Inspiron 1525. I'm running Ubuntu 12.10. In the past HDMI used to work fine but now: Unsupported signal, check device output.

I've tried different cables and different HDMI ports on the TV (Sony 32KDL720) but to no effect. It works fine if I boot into Windows but nothing in Ubuntu (I don't want to use Windows). So it seems that it is not a hardware problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you gone through this link wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Config/HDMI –  VRU Jan 10 '13 at 13:20

I saw this one in the past when I had Ubuntu 9.04 installed. When I've upgraded to 11.04 everything worked fine without any intervention from me. Lately I've got this problem again (I haven't used HDMI in over a year) and I think it's caused by an update to linux kernel. I will keep searching. –  Alex Jan 16 '13 at 10:23
